Rover certainly had a great sense of humour, a sharp dry wit which I enjoyed.
Completely separate to that was the unwritten "road crew" code which stayed in place.
Quite a few years ago I needed a Lamborghini windscreen in a hurray (don't ask).
There were none in NZ,and I found one in Australia, in Melbourne.
I rang Barry Deacon and asked if he knew anyone who could help me pick the screen up and take it to the airport.
Rover stepped up and did that for me. It wa snowhere near as easy a task as that sounds, and there we quite a few complicatiuons, all of which Rover sorted for me.
We had not spoken for years prior to this, yet he was still prepared to drop everything and help out someone from his Sundowner days.
